Hello
| |
|
I am consistently amazed at
how different people perceive and respond to the
same experience so differently. This variation
seems to expand exponentially when stressors are
applied. What is viewed as traumatic by some is
exciting for others. Experiences causing a state
of demobilizing paralysis in one person produce
minimal reaction or disturbance of normalcy in
another. Crisis Care Network is frequently
requested to provide consultation and support
during corporate reorganizations, downsizings,
plant closings, and terminations. Whereas these
incidents do not pose imminent danger, involve
loss of life, or produce gruesome images, they
disturb the equilibrium of individuals and
workgroups significantly enough to benefit from
strategic application of competent compassion.
Several studies have noted the increased risk of
suicide and violence as correlated with these
events.
In this edition of
PracticePoints, we introduce several external
authors to offer a variety of professional
perspectives to the same event. Represented will
be an attorney, an EAP professional, and
individual/organizational change management
consultants. We believe that doing so helps
develop a more comprehensive understanding and
supports accomplishment of additional
organizational objectives. The opinions
expressed are respected but do not necessarily
reflect the position of Crisis Care Network.
