Hello
As the field of workplace critical incident response services continues to bridge the chasm between research and practice, the disparities discovered between it and standard therapeutic practice become increasingly magnified. Behavioral Health professionals engaged in Critical Incident Response service can not simply conduct a wholesale transfer of office-based skills into a corporate setting and successfully facilitate accomplishment of organizational/individual objectives. On the (fortunately rare!) situations in which Crisis Care Network receives a customer complaint regarding the service delivered by a CCN Specialist it nearly always pertains to a lack of corporate savvy - not of clinical judgment. This edition of PracticePoints highlights and teases out some of the differentiating factors leading to services most pertinent to the workplace. I welcome your feedback and invite you to contact me directly or via the Forum section of CrisisCoach. Best,

ICISF 9th World Congress
Lyle Labardee, CEO of Crisis Care Network attended the ICISF 9th World Congress on Stress, Trauma and Coping in Baltimore, MD on February 16-18, 2007. This year's conference, "Evolving Comprehensive Crisis Intervention" included presentations on psychological first aid, resiliency and evidence informed approaches to critical incident response. Highlights included Dr. Rosalie Sukyee KWONG - LO, M. Soc. SC., CT from the Hospital Authority of Hong Kong who spoke about lessons learned from the SARS epidemic and how healthcare teams in Hong Kong are preparing for response to an avian flu pandemic. Moussa Ba, MD, MPH of the United Nations explained how the UN is identifying mental health professionals worldwide to build a global network of CISM responders in all 150 countries in which the UN is represented. In a session entitled "Psychological First Aid-Making It Work", Dr. George Everly reported on the success of his Johns Hopkins team in developing an evidence-informed PFA training curriculum for those with no previous disaster mental health training or background.
